About This Game Ever feel like the world doesn't understand your talents? Mae is a rabbit-eared genius programmer, able to manipulate reality with a few keystrokes or - the more fun option - blow up large swathes of reality in one of her custom-built Devices. However, genius is never understood in its own time, and she's provoked a severe response from the environmental group "Blue Revolver". Command her defiant counter-attack over 5 stages of manic struggle, blast through hordes of enemies and go face-to-face with fearsome bosses.Features: 5 stages of heart-pounding struggle. Snowy mountains, hectic dockyards, nightmare bases and more... Two pilots with 3 gun types each, and 8 special weapons to choose from! Blocking bullets, clearing crowds, carving up bosses or milking points - the choice is yours. Adaptive difficulty system - the game tailors its difficulty on the fly to your skill level. Or if you're weird, pick Parallel mode for a glimpse of the most the game can throw at you, including a "nice" surprise at the end. Missions mode - 24 single-stage challenges allow you to build up your skills before going for the full clear! Take on strict survival and scoring challenges, or deal with slightly stranger things - experimental weapons, annoying giant bullets and more. Flourish for high scores! Build up short chains and finish them off with the special weapon for big points. Score BREAK bonuses by picking apart bosses and big enemies in difficult ways. Full original soundtrack by Qygen and Novaturtle - and tons of usable remix tracks by Exemia, Hyphen, MadDrift, Terranaut, Mitomoro, Blue Phoenix, ikaruga_nex and Aghast. So, BLUE REVOLVER. I don't think anyone is going to need me to tell them what genre this game is at this point or about any of the more superficial gameplay details - not that I'd be capable of writing a succinct, worthwhile summary of them anyway. What I can talk about, however, is my perspective on the game as someone who has barely any experience with bullet hell shmups and who had always been intimidated by their difficulty.BLUE REVOLVER manages to teach its players a basic understanding of how to play games of this type in a pretty elegant way. It might seem somewhat gimmicky at first, but if you actually give the mission mode the time of day you will quickly find yourself adjusting to the overall speed and flow of not only this game in specific, but bullet hell shmups in general. The survival missions give you incentive to practice the individual levels as such, the break ones teach you the bosses and the break mechanic, the invisible bullet ones show you that you shouldn't be focusing solely on your ship during gameplay, the revenge ones train your reaction times and maneuvering skills and so on and so forth. My point is: Not only is the game fun and rewarding, it also improves your skills really quickly, allowing you to enjoy more examples of this underrated genre of gaming. Highly recommended!. Very solid shoot em up: The controls are tight, the way enemies move and tilt to fire comes across as feeling very natural and the variety of mid-bosses, bosses and their patterns is good. The colorful graphics fit the game well, it would be great if they were a bit more detailed tough. The games two main gimmicks -1. Meeting certain parameters like destroying all the parts of a boss grants a point bonus 2. Building up a hitchain to raise the points gained by the special shot - fit perfectly into the flow and are very fun to play around with. Also, the soundtrack is awesome and the main characters are cute.. One thing to say: I LOVE THIS GAME!This is one of the few bullet hell games I ever played, and it has taken a soft spot in my life. This game is great for beginner's, as I had played, touhou, etc., but it is a great starter for people to play or be in♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ed into these type of genres. This also helps and gives also a great amount of fun for veterans and experts at these games, and WILL certainly enjoy the asthetics of this game. Gameplay is very fluid, even though I am one off of the processing power, replay value is very high on this game, and the help and tips of different modes help any player get addicted. Even when i unlocked free play mode, exactly what it sounds like, I took it off because i wanted to become better at the game. It wasn't because of a few hours to get mehyped, but because it gives you the mindset to get better and enhance your skills in the game. The gallery art is beautiful and the unlocks are really cool. The missions are also great, as they give challenges to improve, survivability, scoring, etc. and also stage select as it helps to practice a certain level that you are stuck on. Though some things that are not well is the lack of content, even if it is an arcade like game. I kind of wish there was more things to play at, like new levels and such, but don't get me wrong. This game makes me play almost a lot of hours into it. I hope they put out DLC for this game and change a few things, but this is something that i will put in a lot of time.Overall: 4.85 on my list (just because of some bugs and the need for more content). Great game. Tons of depth and lots of weapon options, most of which play completely differently, so even if you master the game one way, you can try a different weapon configuration and have a very different experience. Multiple difficulties provide an appropriate challenge for all skill levels. Good music. Free "Double Action" update coming in the near future. Hard to go wrong here.. This game is an absolute gem. You can really see the love that went into making it, in the art, the music, and especially the incredibly tight mechanics. The score system is really intuitive and fun (rack up an eight kill streak, then fire your special weapon for a 'flourish' and watch points roll in), the movement is fluid and the bullet patterns are challenging but fair. When I die, and I've died a lot, it's never frustrating because it's always clear to me what i did wrong and how I messed up. The exuberance of the VA yelling "game over!" also helps. Shes just so psyched to see me dead that I can't be mad.the variety of weapons and setups is really cool, i've spent a good amount of time fooling around with different arrangements and characters. There are two characters, each of whom has similar (but not identical) main attacks, but a range of powerful special moves that are mostly unique to them. Some special moves are defensive, some spray missiles across the screen, while others are just a single powerful missile that fires straight ahead or a mega-laser that wipes out everything in your way. You get to pick a single special gun for each run and it really changes up how I play.I'm disastrously bad at the game, but it's got an easy mode (normal) that I'm struggling though and every run is a blast. I've also played a fair amount of Hyper mode, where i am ashamed to say I can't even beat the second boss. Hyper mode is the default difficulty, and is a very clever difficulty level that adapts to how well you are doing: die a bunch and it's indistinguishable from normal mode, but rack up a bunch of great combos and flourishes, and the next thing you know you're in full on hard mode. speaking of which, the hard mode (called parallel) starts you at the max-combo difficulty right off the bat, and I'm sure it's more than enough to satisfy actual shmup players.I really like this game and i hope to someday not suck at it. I recommend it to anyone who likes videogames.. This is a fast paced bullet hell with a REALLY sick soundtrack. The characters are really cute and lovable and there is a lot of choice in playstyle in terms of bullets and powerups you want to use. Clearing a stage has never felt so satisfying through this difficult yet rewarding game. There is a lot of replayibility as there are different missions to complete and lots of unlockables in the in-game store. However, I can not exaggerate how well the music goes along with this unique bullethell experience. Touhou fans alike should find themselves picking up this game.5/5 A great addition to your Steam library. Accessible, but challenging. Super stylish, but maintains all that retro shmup goodness. I think this a good place to start if you are trying to step into shmup/bullet hell!. Blue Revolver is probably one of the best shmups on steam. Stylish, fast and quite intelligent. The scoring system is simple yet effective, and there´s lots of features and a bit of unlocks to those who´re into it. You have to unlock the free play, so no credit-feeding at the start, which might be off-putting for those who are new to the genre. The game is not easy, like most of the bullet hells, so you might need to work for the free play quite a bit depending on the skill level. Mission mode is nice addition. The main selling point for me was the amazing soundtrack that complements the action stupendously. So well that I actually use it in other shmups and fast action games as well. If you´re looking to get into the genre I´d recommend starting from Mushihimesama or Dodonpachi Resurrection, as they have novice modes to help ease into the difficulty curve associated with bullet hells, but if you´re looking for a new solid shmup, look no further.. Incredible game; it's criminal how little attention this has received. The soundtrack is absolutely top notch, the graphics are lovely, and the scoring system is lots of fun, but those are less important than the more intangible aspect of the bullet patterns and stage design. The patterns in this game are just a lot of fun to dodge, they have that intricate organic asymmetrical feel like the best CAVE games. I was bored of shmups for years and years and this game got me back into them. The extra features are very nice. Being able to start at varying points in a stage is a godsend, and relieves a huge pain point I've had in other PC shmups. I've spent an embarrassing amount of time listening to the music room, even stooping to playing Normal Mode so I could access additional soundtracks. Support for replays would be nice.
